Post subject: Cannot click - Links in Profil is hanging
Today from 6:00am I cannot click other links!
I get - attachment 1,
after this I look and see - attachment 2 and 3
I clicked many times "update" and "links", but no reactions
in between I saw 10 Minutes this - attachment 4

Please, what is this?

funhippie - Thu Aug 14, 2008 5:56 am

I too am having similar problem. My links will not update if i try to change them. I deleted a link and the blank spot for the link is still there hours later and still says deleting. New links say "Changing to new" just as the screen shots posted show. And those links have not been displayed and are not active.

I get the cannot click others links with no link posted even though my first link is active and working. But it is in dynasty only.

Hope this can be fixed soon.

latest update , think it might be , links only change at reset
Darrel - Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:03 am

bad thing
carlo-patti - Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:12 am

After the Server-reset, its the same, if I click one link:
You cant click other people links, whithout having at last one link set.
You can set wich links are visible to others in profile.

The Visibility is Main and Dynasty

Similar problem, unchecked my happy hour links leaving 2 links visible to dynasty. I go to dynasty page and can see those 2 links, but am getting the message when I try to click on a link...

You cant click other people links, whithout having at last one link set.
You can set wich links are visible to others in profile.

Have a nice day!

This is normal, we know this too

bug with the new update , let the mods and admins know , but give them time to sort it out
carlo-patti - Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:46 am

I make a test:
I deleted in Profil-->links my link for the dynasty, after I clicked a few Links with no problem.
After I reactivated my Dynastylink, and clicked new Links.
now I can click all links.
But, I think the Problem is not gone.
EDIT: Before the Serverreset I cannot change anything in the profil.

Chillaxville - Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:51 am

I had the problem with not being allowed to click links. I went into profile and unchecked all of the "Main" and "Dynasty" boxes then clicked "update". After that I checked the boxes again and clicked "update". Now I can click links just fine.

I don't know what to do about the other problem.

Darrel - Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:11 am

This is something from the update, altough I haven't seen such message. Now I saw it

Very cool, thank you :) That worked for me :)

Darrel - Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:23 am

I worked for me, too
engelina - Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:48 am

thanks for the tip. had the same problem, and this worked for me.
Ironweb - Thu Aug 14, 2008 8:29 am

I am able to click other links so I know at least one on my links is active. I tried adding more links for dynasty before reset but it did not work. I tried removing them but it says "Deleting" now on the profile links page. The ones I added after that say "Changing to new" I thought maybe reset would right it, but it is still like people were saying earlier in this thread. Thanks :)

Wow, I had the same problem, that was nuts!!!!!

There is no reason to have to do that work around to fix it. Someone needs to fix the system.

Neerie - Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:18 pm

Though at first this thread wasn't started about the new update in itself, I guess I will just voice my opinion here since it seems that the problems originated from the update.

First, the positive... what I like about this update:
- no more happy hour (what can I say, it never was really happy for me, way too late)
- more fair for all time zones

Ok, now the bad:
- badly implemented: no actual warning (no the poll about changing dyn. averages does not count), no official announcement to explain what changed = many frustrated users

- no save against waste of credits due to server downs: ok so sometimes one of the games will have problems, I have taken my Dragon Cave, Valenth or minicity.in links down from a few hours to a full day because the actual games were down. With the new system, I can't, and if people click on my links while the servers are down, I loose my credits here, and don't get anything over there. Now why should I even put my links here in the first place? Or what about these games whith a daily limit? People can't manually remove their links when they reach that limit now.. more wasted credits.

I can understand not allowing to post a new link in lieu of a deleted one.
I can NOT understand not allowing to take down a link right away (at least that's what the "Deleting" status tells me, that it is not yet deleted and people can still click on it).

I can Not understand why people were not all given a certain amount of slots, that would ALL be visible at ALL time, where the content could only be updated as follow: actual deleting is postponed till reset, but adding a new link to an already empty slot can happend instantly, but with "ON/OFF" or "Active/Inactive" boxes. There would be a limit on the amount of links posted, and it would be fullproof against external game problems (as long as people check their own games).

funhippie - Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:50 pm

I agree with Neerie! I removed one of my two links that were posted before reset since the server is down at MyDreamCity. So now I only have one link to work with until reset 15 hours away. The lack of any information before making such a change has cost people a lot of credits and caused a lot of frustration unnecessarily.

If we were able to instantly add links up until now, it cant' be that hard to update our links every 2 hours. At least then we would have some flexibility.

Does it always take this long for an Admin. to add to a topic such as this?

engelina - Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:52 pm

i agree with neerie, on this.

otherwise i would not have the problem i posted about elsewhere.. since i would have made sure to remove my friends link yesterday, before all this, and after she got the clicks she needed at that moment to make her dragons grow up.

while i can understand the why's.. or at least i think i can, some warning or a announcement with what was changed would he nice.

I did the same and can click, but I cant uncheck my extra links and now I'm losing my credit very fast

Darrel - Thu Aug 14, 2008 3:05 pm

Great idea Neerie, this would make this update better, and credits saving.
purplemkayel - Thu Aug 14, 2008 3:50 pm

This may just be a bug. I was expecting the update to make the link slots like they were originally when there was only 5 slots. Once person A clicked on a link in slot 1, even if the link is changed, or deleted and a new one added later, person A can't click on that slot again until that slot resets.
Neerie - Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:02 pm

Case in point: minicity.in cuttently gives the "bandwidth exceeded" message. That means that EVERYONE who currently have a MyDreamCity link listed 1) are loosing credits here and are not getting any result there and 2) will not see their link removed from here until next reset.

We're talking about hundreds of credits potentially lost per person for the next 12 hours! While some can afford to loose credits (many were posting links just to boost other people's averages after all), there are also many others for whom that can mean a full day worth of clicking totally lost.

This is a other Topic
