Hello,

Just a quick update: FutureRP link clicks no longer require you to wait 30 seconds before clicking another one. Hopefully this will make things a bit easier.

We had a lot of trouble a few weeks ago from several individuals, which prompted me to tighten up security a bit. As you've no doubt guessed, they were trying to automate link clicking, using lists of proxy IPs.

The vast majority of people here shouldn't see the CAPTCHA image. If you're seeing it every time you click a FutureRP link, perhaps you're using a browser addon which modifies your HTTP request headers; the game may get suspicious and show the CAPTCHA image in such cases.

I will see what can be done from my end to minimise these incidents.

Still doesn't explain why I get more clicks on Yarolds, than on FRP. But if you're not seeing it, no reason to worry about it. Sorry for wasting your time.

It appears to be a Chrome-specific bug with regards to opening new tabs. It'll be fixed in Chrome eventually, because it's behaving differently to every other browser. The issue manifests itself in different ways on thousands of websites. In our case, it just trips the CAPTCHA. Almost nobody here will have the issue. If you do, try opening links with your left mouse button, instead of pressing the middle mouse button.

The links on this exchange open in a new tab anyway, so there's no need to use the middle mouse button (which is the cause if the issue in Chrome).

This link exchange is actually white-listed; you shouldn't see the CAPTCHA image at all whilst clicking links via this site

Since you took of the cheaters check before the page opens, I can and have put the links to open in frames now. This at least forces other users to leave the page open for at least 10 sec. before closing it.

That sounds better.

I have done the following...

-Removed button, so you see the "Click Word that appears twice" immediately.
-Increased max clicks per IP per day to 25, from 10 - can be increased to 50 if needed.
-Removed "per player" 2 minute limit on clicks.
-Added 2 minute "per IP" limit on clicks.

It is much better than before.

Just go to the page and click the word. You have to stay there for 10 seconds anyway, as you said, and I noticed a lot of other links employing some kind of verification(usually a button).
You can now get 500 clicks per day, and without the old 2 minute limit.
Several IP's can click your link, and there is no time throttle.

I hope this helps.

I am redesigning the link system today, but it will not affect its usage.
It is very strange that it requires www. I think that is why I have been having trouble adding it to my profile too.

I'll have to add this to my faq incase others have similar trouble.

The 2 minute delay may be removed, but my main concern is people not clicking the button on the link page to grant the exp to the player.
I'll probably just remove the button;)

The new link page is different to the old one.
It is futurerp.net/pages/link.php?id=x,
instead of futurerp.net/link.php?id=x

Perhaps that is too long? I have also made a shortcut: futurerp.net/?link=x, but I'm not sure of that is as credible as a longer url.

I suppose you are right. I don't know exactly what you do here, so I could never make a truly educated comment:).

Yes, but when it is blatantly obvious they are making a fool of you, you could act.

I don't know exactly what you do here, so I could be stupid for saying this:

Can't you log who clicks each link, and create a summary of 'clickers' per day.
If a person has had many credits wasted, and all from the same few people,
you can vote them to have a 'bad reputation'.
There could be some kind of punishment for these people(like slower credit earnings?) - meaning they'd have to click more people's links to 'redeem' themselves:)

That would again be subject to the honesty of the people voting,
but if could provide incentive to actually finish the link clicks.

Hey, I noticed you were creeping up the referral list again, so I thought I would log in:).

I have been considering removing the link system, in favor of a referral system, but I am not sure it will be widely accepted. Some sort of hybrid can be arranged.

I can remove the 2 minute timeout if it works better for you.

Any suggestions are welcome;).
